I'm Isaac Saul.
I am a writer, reporter, public speaker, podcast host, and entrepreneur. I'm the founder of Tangle, an independent, subscriber-supported, non-partisan politics newsletter with over 280,000 subscribers. We summarize the best arguments from the left, right and center on the big debates of the day in U.S. politics. You can subscribe to Tangle by clicking here.
After nearly a decade in New York City, I am now based in Philadelphia, PA, though I was raised in suburban Pennsylvania and spend a lot of my time in West Texas, upstate New York, New York City, and traveling the country. Throughout my career as a writer, I've gotten to present my views on national television, nationally syndicated radio shows and podcasts, and have seen my work on CNN, in The Huffington Post, The New York Daily News, TIME Magazine, The Daily Mail, Yahoo!, The Forward, and A Plus. My reporting has been cited by The Washington Post, The New York Times and Fox News, among many others.
I've also been fortunate enough to live, study, travel or write all over the U.S., Bali, Bolivia, Canada, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Singapore, and Thailand, among others (Alaska and Texas, too, both of which I've come to consider countries of their own).

I was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and got my start in media at Pennsbury High School in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where I was a news anchor and script writer for PHS-TV. I joined the The Pitt News during my sophomore year of college at the University of Pittsburgh and served as the sports editor until I graduated. During my time in Pittsburgh I got to intern for local weekly papers and shadow reporters from places like the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
I left The Huffington Post in 2014, where I started my professional career, to work along alongside Ashton Kutcher and a talented team to build A Plus, one of the world's largest positive news outlets. Our stories focused on the people finding solutions to important issues, the heroes in tragedies, and stories that can inspire change. In 2016, Yahoo! named me one of the 16 people who shaped the 2016 election. Throughout my time at A Plus I also freelanced all over and had my work and writing syndicated across many publications. In 2021, I left A Plus to pursue Tangle full-time. In 2024, Tangle won a Shorty Award in the News & Media category.
You can follow me on Twitter here, where I share some of my work and great reporting I come across on the internet (along with the occasional sports tweet).
